Creating a Default Dynamic Product

Once we enable dynamic products for your account, you must create a default dynamic product.

When we receive your HTML Form’s POST request, we build the product’s Landing Page using your default dynamic product’s information. We then replace the default information with the product information contained in the POST request.

Using default information and replacing it has several advantages:

 

  • We only replace what you want us to replace
  • If you send incomplete product information, the default information serves as backup

To create a default dynamic product:

  1. Click the Product Console tab.
  2. Click the Create a new product button.
  3. In the Create a dynamic product section, click the Continue button.
  4. Set up a generic, default product the same way you set up a static, non-dynamic product.

Keep in mind that we will use all of this information to build your Landing Page, and then replace sections with any new product information included in the POST request.

Any product information missing from the request will not be replaced. You can use this to your advantage.

For example, if you want all of your dynamic product Landing Pages to use the same banner image, upload an image that works well with all of your products, and don’t include banner image URLs when creating your products’ HTML Forms.

Similarly, if you do not want to display a product image for any dynamic products, do not upload a product image, and do not include product image URLs when creating your products’ HTML Forms.

Note: Since you may sell different types of products, you may have varying activation methods. To avoid complexity, we recommend that you set your default product’s activation method to I will take care of activation.
